The board of trustees at the announced Wednesday that Laura Anglin had been unanimously selected asthe lobby’ new president. She will star t on July 16. Anglin has spent most of her caree r instate government; for the past 15 she was director of the stat e Division of the Budget. She earned her bachelor’w and master’s degrees at the Universit y at Albany. Anglin will be the commission’s first female presidengt in its 53-year history. She will replace Abrahakm Lackman, who is retiring. Lackmah will be working with Anglin throughout the summe and fall to ensure asmootnh transition.
The commission lobbies the state and federao governments on behalf of111 private, nonprofit collegew and universities in the state. Area members includwe Albany Law School, , and . Anglin is vacating the leadership post in thebudgetg office, which plays a key role in advising governorsd and writing their annual budget In a statement, Gov. David Paterson congratulated Anglin on her new job but did not say when he wouldd appoint a newbudgeft director. Anglin’s departure also leaves seatsx open on at least five stat e committees andoversight boards. Paterson’s appointee will automatically serve on many ofthose boards.
