The nonprofit centef is affiliated with theChabaf Lubavitch, an orthodox Jewish movement that has temples and educatio n centers throughout the world. The foreclosurwe names the nonprofit Friends of Lubavitch of Florid andthe for-profit 17330 NW 7 LLC. Rabbu Bentzion Korf, who is listed on the LubavitchEducation Center’ Web site as the director, manages both which took an $8 million loan from the bank in 2004.
Korf didn’ t immediately return a call seeking comment. The centetr was founded in 1973 as the firstrabbinicalk college, or yeshiva, in the southeasternb U.S. Orthodox Jews from throughout South Floridqa send their children there forreligious education. In addition to the main which is located near Golden the foreclosure targetsthe 30,750-square-foot education center at 1114 Altonb Road in Miami Beach and a 3,363-square-foo t apartment building at 1231 13th St. in Miamoi Beach.
