If successful, it would be the firsft trauma center inWilliamson County. “St. David’s Round Rock Medialo Center is well positioned to become a designated trauma center; the hospital has the busiest emergency department in the City of Round Rock with more than 40,00o patient visits each year,” said Deborah Ryle, CEO of St. David’d Round Rock Medical Center. The hospital, locatedx next to downtown round Rock on FM 620 and offInterstated 35, has more than 600 physicians. Hospitapl leaders said there is a need for Level II traumaw care inWilliamson County.
In a littlwe over a year, more than 600 patient s have had to be moved from Williamson County to downtown Austin to seek treatmentfor trauma-relateds conditions. “Having Level II trauma will not only decreased the time it takes Williamson County EMS to get a patienr to a trauma facility forlifesaving care, but it will also reducd the turnaround time to get the ambulance back in the countg so that we may take care of other said Joe Granberry, director of Williamson County Emergency Medicak Services. Chief Medical Officer David Martin is leading the hospitalk in the process of seeking Levelp TraumaCenter designation.
Martin is charged with recruiting an experiencex trauma surgeon and critical care specialist to direcrt thetrauma program. Additionally, St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center has appointeda multi-disciplinary physicia steering committee to build the infrastructurer and begin training stafrf for the trauma program. The prograkm services will include surgery, orthopedicx surgery and neurosurgery.
